There are a lot of adjustments to be made when going through divorce or when you have a blended family. With Father’s Day right around the corner we may be having a difficult time determining how to spend the day. When there’s more than one Dad with which to celebrate, try implementing the following idea from our expert guest blogger, Joe D’Eramo.
Create a Dad’s Day
In my book, 25 Ways to go from Stepfather to StepDad, I describe a special day his stepchildren set up for him the week before Father’s Day called Dad’s Day. The children essentially created their own holiday because their visitation scheduled mandated that Father’s Day be spent with their father.
Some activities that make for great Father’s Day “presents” in lieu of actual gifts can include:
• Making Father’s Day cards
• Yard work
• Giving the garage a good late spring cleaning
• Cleaning the interior and exterior of Dad’s car
• A picnic in the park
• Family Day at the beach or attending a baseball game
• A marathon board game or Wii session
How do you celebrate Father’s Day with all the meaningful men in your family?
